MOHAA upgrade to 1.1 in Vista 64bit

I know it’s a bit of an old game….but it’s still a goody, I was bored so thought I would play through this game during my lunch hour.

Completed the game then went to have a quick go online, but found I had to upgrade to version 1.1. Downloaded the UK/US patch, tried to install it, but it comes up with a error saying the incorrect country has been selected.

I almost just wrote it off thinking maybe they had changed something in a newer release I had missed, but I had a bit a google about and found this information -

Using Regedit go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Medal of Honor Allied Assault\1.1.12.*** (*** being random numbers) and rename 1.1.12.*** with 1.1.12.200 or if that doesn’t work 1.1.12.100 (1.1.12.200 worked for me)

I thought cool, I can go online and get my ass kicked…but alas HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Medal of Honor Allied Assault\1.1.12.*** doesn’t exist….

I then noticed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\, never really noticed that before clicked into the directory and found \EA GAMES\Medal of Honor Allied Assault\1.1.12.***, renamed the directory and it worked straight away.

Thought I would post this for anyone who has to edit a older program but couldn’t find the info, well look in WOW6432Node.

Please be careful when playing with the registry, if you do it wrong you will break your computer.

Hopefully my blog will unearth some interesting things about technology. At least it keeps me off the streets...
